how can be dealt with sterilizers without temperature recorders? if a sterilizer hasn't recorder, is a fault indicator in the event of temperature decrease, a good substitute? if the sterilizer has not both recorder and fault indicator, how can it be dealt with?

We CSD-workers in Europe take all possible high-tech-control System on our Sterilizer for granted. Reading your question shows that you have to deal with less comfort, but your aim is just the same, you want to sterilize in a safe way.
This however is only possible when sterilizers are equipped with at least the following instruments:

1. sterilizer chamber temperature indicating instrument
2. sterilizer chamber temperature recorder
3. sterilizer chamber pressure indicating instrument
4. sterilizer pressure recorder
5. jacket pressure indicating instrument (if it is a jacket sterilizer)
6. steam pressure gauge if the sterilizer has a dedicated steam generator normally item b and d can be combined.

As always, the manufacturer or supplier should provide you with documentary evidence to demonstrate compliance with the requirements for all necessary tests.

CalivaC sterilization monitoring control. Answering to your question, we have developed in Rexam SPS 5 years ago? a specific independant system which is also dedicated for those who don't have autoclaves with graphic reports or temperatures reports..... CalivaC sterilization monitoring control.

This is a probe independant from the chamber, that means it is working in any machine, the old ones as the latest. This sensor records temperature, pressure and time for steam sterilisers ans washers and give you the quality of saturated steam. If you want, you can contact me for more informations.

As i answered to you, the only solution if your machine doesn't have any temperature informations is to use an independant recorder.
In France for example, many CSD use it for each cycle to replace indicators.
Indicators just give informations that the product was in the autoclave but will never give you anything more than indications.... By the ISO 14937 ask to do measurement and if necessary to add chemical and biological indicators
If your sterilizer is clearly loosing temperature or pressure, plateau duration or quality of saturated steam, only an independant electronic system can show you for every cycles if you reached the required parameters. (ISO 14937)
This is a probe of 3.1 cm that can be placed wherever you want inside the load or at the drainage point etc.... It is from my point of view, the only solution for your problem of recorders. Don't hesitate to contact me for more details.
