Dear Madam/Sir,

Would you please explain:
1) During Sterilization holding Time there appears to be pressure ripples instead of a flat straight line (During 7 mins holding time). It is noticed that the pressure remains at 2.21 Bar and the Sterilization time at 135.3 Degrees Celcius in this case. Could it be due to the enlarged bleeder hole or a bad steam trap? Please advice.

Hello Joe,

It is difficult to judge about these kind of problems without knowing the previous situation. You should compare the graphs of your recorder with the ones made before you noticed this ripples. It is important to know the method used by the steriliser to control the pressure and temperature. This means the steriliser control and the valves in the P&ID which are actually executing the instructions coming from the control. If you could send me a copy of the original graph and the one with the problem, by fax, I will give it a try to evaluate it and advise you. However if the ripple is not causing a too low sterilising temperature there seems to be no problem at all. Of course if you want to stick to the EN 285 the temperature ripple, including the theoretical temperature, should not exceed 1,5 degree Celsius.
