Subject: Use by dates for sterile devices

Dear Sirs,

Please advise latest views on use by dates for sterile devices as relevant to Hospital Sterile Supply organisations.
Comments on the use of negative pressure when handling pathogens as per ISO 14969:1999, clause 4.9 guidelines would also be of interest.

Regards,
Richard Strick

Dear Richard

Concerning "wraps and dates" you might find an answer in the article "Choosing a Sterilization Wrap for Surgical Packs" written by William A. Rutala, PhD, MPH and David J. Weber, MD, MPH. in the journal Infection Control Today http://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/articles/051feat6.html
In addition please see the answers to questions Q00093, Q00110, Q00162 and Q00193.

Best regards

Dear,

In the interview with Tim Galekop: "European expert condemns the re-use of sterilization packaging", you can find under Articles on our Education pages, Tim comments e.g. on the shelf life of sterilised articles.
Have a look!

Best regards,
Wim Renders
