Dear Sirs,

EN 1174 Sterilization of medical devices - Estimation of the population of micro-organisms on product is the used norm in order to estimate the number of microorganisms on the product. Is necessary to know also the type of microorganism and which are important to research for CSSD?

Thank you and best reguards

Dear,

EN 11174 does not require the identification of micro-organisms. There are Notified Bodies that go further in their interpretation and eventually find a further differentiation of the colonies useful (as for instance by gram-colouring, morfological description). But this is not a requirement.
