Could you please tell me if you have problems with Traywrap tearing? If this is a problem for you what would you consider to be an acceptable percentage?

Thanking you in advance!

Debbie

Dear Debbie

Don't accept any tearing of Traywrap.
The reason can result from different sources and can and must be resolved. Regardless of the type of packaging material you choose - correct validation of the packaging process is essential to ensure the packaging material and sterilization medium are compatible. Check if tearing happens regardless by whom the tray are packed - wrapping should not be to tight, but also not too loose. Check if the problem occurs always in the same autoclave (it could be a too fast vacuum problem). Other tips to avoid tearing are:

  • Use towels inside the inside the package to cushion sharp corners and edges of the tray.
  • Use towels to cushion your carts, as well.
  • Avoid stacking trays on top of one another.

If all this doesn't help talk to your packaging material vendor or manufacturer. Or evaluate packaging material from another manufacturer.

Kind regards
Josy Holdener

Dear Debbie,

Before I answer your question I would like to know a little bit more. When do the wraps tear? How heavy are your instrument trays? How are they transported? How are they stored?
It is always very difficult to give advices from a distance but with the answers on the questions above it will make it easier.

Kindest regards,
