Have been seriously looking into Hamo washer/disinfectors. Anyone with good or bad imput on them, Please reply. Avenatech also appears to be very good. Any reports on their washer/disinfector?

There are 7 Avenatech/Belimed washer/disinfector units at our hospital. They have been in place for over 10 years. Most of the units have over 20,000 cycles. We have been pleased with their performance and service. We are in the process of purchasing new Avenatech/Belimed brand units to begin to replace our current washers.

My experience with HAMO washers has been very good. Virtually no soaking or pre-washing of instruments is needed, with the exception of chunks of bone in rongeurs. Bone doesn't dissolve in the HAMO brand washers. The high pH alkaline wash is very effective at shredding all organic material and the low pH acid neutralizer renews the passivation layer on the instruments.

Dear Lin:

Hamo was recently purchased by Steris. Don't know how this will effect their future production. Have you looked into a BHT unit? We have excellent experience with them.
