Dear Dr. Sengupta

Instead of fumigation, scrubbing with a disinfectant and cleaning is a safer, and more effective way to reduce microbial contamination of surfaces such as walls, ceilings and floors. Spot cleaning of blood and body substances should be undertaken as soon as practicable with an effective contaminant.
I think the article "Controversies in Infection Control: When and How to Reduce the Load of Microorganisms?" by G.A.J.Ayliffe. Hospital Infection Research Laboratory, City Hospital NHS Trust, England, on www.ific.narod.ru/Cambridge/16.html can give you the required information.
Please look also at: www.health.nsw.gov.au/audit/manuals/cleaning.pdf
Or just type the keyword "Standards Guidelines and Policy for NSW Public Hospital Cleaning Services" (pages 26-29) in a search machine (GOOGLE).

Kind regards
Josy Holdener
