We are in the process of planning a new Sterile Service Dept and enquire as to the availability of any agreed space calculations for this planning process, both for a seperate TSSU and a combined Sterile Service Dept

Hi Tony,

Fortunatly in the Netherlands we have a structural and functional guidance document on the building and rebuilding of a CSSD (1991). This document is part of the legislation for hospitalfacilities. All the plans must be aproved by the board for hospitalfaclities. The guidance includes among other things the type and position of the equipment, ventilation and climate control, spatial design of the separate units and technical provisions of the department. If you are interested you can contact me, but unfortunately it is in Dutch! But as I understand there are lot of Dutchies in New Zealand (nieuw zeeland), so maybe they can help you with the translation.
