Subject: Legislation for the use of double bagged containers in hospital theatres

Is there any specific legislation regarding the use of irradiated double bagged containers to avoid containation in the theatre area? I have details of recommendations that:

  • Containers must be rendered completely sterile by irradiation, and
  • Containers must be double bagged to avoid contamination between non-operating and operating areas in the theatre

But no idea where this has come from. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which regulating body stipulates these requirements.

Many Thanks
Sara Allwood
