Subject: History of sterilization

What is a good reference I can use to write a paper on the history of sterilization, who invented the first steam sterilizer, and about Professor Von Bergmann of Berlin (1885AD).

Dear Tammy

The best, most complete Reference on the History of Sterilization you can find are the 40 pages of Chapter 1, Historical Introduction, Principal and Methods of Sterilization in Health Sciences, Second Edition, 1983, from John J. Perkins, M.S., LL.D., F.R.S.H. Charles C Thomas Publisher, Springfield, IL.

I wish you a successful search!

Hello!

Information on Ernst von Bergmann can be found here:
http://www.m-ww.de/persoenlichkeiten/von_bergmann.html (in German only).
Or try: http://www.whonamedit.com/index.cfm.

In addition you can send an email to the Charité in Berlin, the hospital where he was head of the surgery department. They might be glad to help you.
