Depending on where you are located, you may have specific national requirements to follow. If you are following ISO standards, check out

International Standard ISO 14644-1: Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments - Part 1: Classification of air cleanliness, International Organization for Standardization ISO, Geneva (May 1999).

Some useful information is also contained in:

US Federal Standard 209E: Airborne particulate cleanliness classes for cleanrooms and clean zones, (11 September 1992).

You should also review USP 26-NF21.
