Subject: Air removal pre sterilisation

I am currently having difficulty in the air removal stage of our steriliser. The bowie dick test`s are failing, and the center pack temperature is not at temperature at the first pulse, but is at the second and third pulse.

We are passing the leak rate test, and all instrumentation is claibrated and in calibration.

I believe we have a leak during this stage but i am struggling to test for it! The vacume pump is pulling down to 25mmBar so i do not think it is the vac pump!

Does any one have any ideas on what i can do next?

Thanks

Lee

Hi

Assuming that the B&D indicator is valid.

  1. Look at the steam quality. Is the water quality appropriate? Is the water airated? Do you monitor pressure and temperature of the supply line? Is the supply rate correct? Do you throttle the steam? Do you separate the water droplets? Dont you prime water from the boiler? Is the steam dry saturated, or you get wet vapor?
  2. Could it be that the control unit has a bug?
