Subject: Effects of formaldehyde on equipments' surfaces

I would like to know if formaldehyde were to be used as a fumigation agent, what are its effects on equipments with a galvanised steel finish versus a stainless steel finish? I want to put a fridge and a freezer in a room that requires formaldehyde fumigation but I have some concerns about the effects of formaldehyde on the surface of the equipment.
