The 4/5/8XL 3M ETO Gas Sterilizers will come from the factory without the exhaust hood. The Exhaust hood can be ordered as an option for customers, if needed. The purpose of the hood is, to release residues of water steam and minimal EO gas concentration (less than 50 ppm). The hood is needed for those customers, which use the sterilizer more than one time per day and aerate the sterilized material outside of the sterilizer in an extra aeration cabinet. In that case, the program of the sterilizer is preprogrammed to have only a 30 minute aeration, after the gas exposure cycle is finished. If the program is ready, the door will be unlocked and can be opened. After the pressure in the chamber has reached ambient level, the door will be open and must then leave at least 5 minutes in the exhaust hood lock. After this time, the baskets with the material can be immediately unlood and put in the extra aeration cabinet for further aeration. The sterilizer is now free for another sterilization.

But if the customer has no extra aeration cabinet, than the aeration of the sterilized material must be made inside of the sterilizer chamber (unit will automatically move in the aeration stage). In that case the program is preset to have at least 3 hours locked aeration inside of the Sterilizer, before the door is unlocked (the material will be continuously further aerated, until the customer turns the door handle). If the customer is going open the door immediately after the 3 hours mandatory aeration, the gas concentration is less than 1 ppm. In this method (which is the most used) a hood is not needed.
