This has been bothering me for some time: what are the regulations for writing on the plastic face of the peel packs when you double peel pack? Can you label it with a marker or pen? I've been told that the ink can penetrate but this sounds a little farfetched to me. Thank you.

Hi
We use marker pens on our outer wrap of out double wrapped overwraps. We have never had a problem with ink soaking through.

Hi,
I would ask a producer of packaging materials, like Ahlstrom.

Dear Sarah

Our advise has always been "never write on the Sterile Barrier System (packaging material)".
The reason for it is that there is always the possibility to create pinholes or other damages. If you have to write than use the autoclave tape or there are labels in the market which are specialy developped for sterilisation purposes. For pouches and bags I would like to advise you to write above the sealing.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have more questions.

Dear Sarah,

The peel-packs made of transparent plastic and paper minimize the need of writing. If writing or labels are needed our recommendation is to have them on the plastic side outside the actual packing area to avoid the possible risk for ink penetration and contamination.

We have special non-toxic Markers designed for this purpose in our range.

Best regards
