Subject: Reuse of heart pacemakers and defibrillators

Is there any documented experience of resterilization of these active medical products and their reuse in the same patient?

Dear Helga

Reuse of pacemakers and defibrillators is not a recommended practice. According to the FDA regulations it is totally forbidden.
The only article about this practice I could find are quite old. For example:
Havia et al, The reuse of previously implanted pacemakers, Scandinavian J. Thorc. Cardiovasc., Urg. Suppl. 22-23, 1978

Regards,
Yaffa Raz
