Subject: European standards for cleaning in a washing:desinfection machine

can anyone, tell me with a specific number, the european standard who says that it is best to clean surgical instruments, in a washing /desinfection machine.
This question is burning on all surgeons minds the moment they hear that this proces takes a certain time, an ther could be a possiblme waiting time to return the instruments.
I know the whole theory about bioburden and so on and I tell the surgeons every time the same story concerening this matter but they won't believe me before some legislation (european) number is told to them
...
you recognise the situation??????
the are so many reasons to wash/desinfect in a machine but they need a number...

Jef

A machine, maily a VALIDATED macine assure repeatability of the output.
The machined cleaning process is an interface of several factors: the operator, the machine, the cleaning agent and the goods. The 1st shall be qualified, 2nd + 3rd + 4th shall be validated.
This is the best way to ASSURE cleanliness. Undepended on willness, mood, weather etc.
The days that Rols-Roice was the champion because it was Hand-made passed. No hand washing can assure a consistant quality like a washing machine.

All the best, and hope it will convince the surgeons.
