John,

First it depends if you are going to do a manual cleaning/desinfection or use a washer desinfector....

If manual: there are several products being used in Europe.... we recommend the use of a product like Sekusept Powder (is cleaning and desinfection). Active substance is: 20g Sodiumperborate & 15g TAED.

If you use machine: there are also several products being used. A new cleaning agent is being introduced in Europe: Ovivario cycle (you can find info on website of the Miele company). This works with an extra cleaning cycle (after the classic alkaline cycle) based on Hydrogen Peroxide. This is been proven to bee a very good cleaning agent (removing proteins)....

hope this helps....

Dear John,

I think you will find that they are using the same Enzymatic detergents you are using in the States.
You will find all you need at Ruhof (US based):

Good luck!
And Merry Christmas!

Dear Jonh

For removal of heavy orthopaedic bio-burden we recommend an ultrasonic cleaning or a washer disinfector with a special program which is developed by Miele company.

This program works as followed:

  • Pre-cleaning with water
  • First alkaline cleaning with an alkaline detergent like neodisher FA pH > 11,5, 55 °C, 3 minutes
  • Second alkaline cleaning with the same alkaline detergent and with additional use of a hydrogen peroxide component like neodisher Oxivario which is dosed directly to the alkaline wash, washing time 5 minutes at 55°C.
  • Neutralization with neodisher Z
  • Intermediated rinse
  • Final rinse and thermal disinfection

Tests in Germany have shown that very stubborn residues can be removed with this special program called Miele –OXIVARIO-program.

Kindest regards

For orthopaedic instruments, Ruhof have a specialised enzymatic product called Orthozime. Very good for removing fat as well as protein.
