Subject: Glutaraldehyde

I would be very grateful for any advice on potential dangers / concerns to patient safety from glutaraldehyde. I have found a lot of info on employee-related safety issues, but none that address patient safety.

In this hospital, there are a number of departments that use glutaraldehyde (Cidex) for disinfection. The odour from this can be detected, and is very noticeable, in some of the adjacent areas.

The web sites that I have checked do not address patient safety issues. Can anyone suggest where I could beging to look for this info.

Thank you

I would start with the current Merck Index.
